The Harbour Museum of Dunkirk is much more than a few models and paintings on a wall: come discover 1 museum, 3 ships and 1 lighthouse, hosting 7 different exhibits.
Commerce raiding, Iceland cod fishing, carnaval (Mardi Gras), Jean Bart, stevedoring, memories of stopovers and ports of call, the largest 3-master in France open to the public… so many things await to be discovered at the Harbour Museum of Dunkirk!
With contents adapted to all audiences, the Museum will take you on a journey through centuries, discovering the city of Dunkirk and its harbour.
Besides the permanent exhibit, the temporary exhibit, the 3 ships and the lighthouse, we also offer year-round animations for all ages!
During all school holidays (French zone B), we offer daily activities for families and children!
Workshops for families, game afternoons, tales and stories, guided tours… there is something different to be done every day at the Harbour Museum!
Our museum offers year-round animations, varying throughout the year. For instance, in February, you can get dressed up for special carnaval animations; for Halloween, scary ghosts roam around the museum and for Christmas, Mother Christmas comes to our museum to tell tales to our young visitors.
Besides these animations, conferences, meetings with artists and other events about philosophy, literature or photography are regularly organised.
The Harbour Museum also takes part in major events. Every year, a special programme is made for la Nuit des Musées (Museum Nights), la Fête de la Mer (Sea Day), les Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) or la Fête du Phare du Risban (Risban Lighthouse Day). And the best way to enjoy those is just to come and see by yourself!
